Mark, I note that you were hurt by the slight to your 'mother's competence'. I do not know to what you referred in your earlier musing regarding her, just that you mentioned that you didn't quite have the relationship you would have wanted and now it is too late. I did note that you were full of praise for your father and the man that he is, and I could feel the love you have in your relationship in your words. I think we all have regrets in relationships...that we could have been a better son, daughter, mother, father, friend, lover. None of us is perfect. No good are the 'what if's' only the 'what is'...we are challenged to live in 'today'. SL, Calgary
